Apple Pie

Our friend Lori Gale baked this pie for us. I found it on the doorstep. After the first taste I decided to start a cult to worship the pie. Photos are from March 31 through April 4...and there is still a slice in the fridge!

Roberta At Home

Roberta At Home
Marking my wife's first full 24 hours since discharge from Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Earlier Mom and Dad came to visit and brought copious quantities of Q-Tips, Honey and Chock Full 'O Nuts Decaf Coffee from Costco. Then Roberta and I walked a lap of the second floor at The Palisades Center, picked up some pizza from Dee Maria's  and here she is enjoying a rerun of Mission Impossible (the TV show with Peter Graves) in our cozy home with the Forsythia blooming outside.

Ninth Avenue

Ninth Avenue

View from the Lincoln Park Grill on 9th Avenue in Manhattan.  I'm sitting in this pub killing time with the help of a whiskey and some people watching. I'm waiting for my wife who is at the DDS. One patron of the bar goes outside to smoke a cigarette. The weather here is so nice that the street level bars, pubs and restaurants have opened all their windows so every puff this clown exhales floats right into the bar. When he's done these two slobs sit their fat asses down on the window sill. So if I'm sitting at that table I've got your butt in my face? Worse yet they both light up. So when Roberta arrived we departed. I love New York but there are a large number of New Yorkers I could do without.

The Lipstick Building

Lipstick Building
This is the "Lipstick Building" where the notorious Bernie Madoff had his offices.
Which has nothing to do with Memorial Sloan-Kettering or our personal journey except that it was on the way.
Roberta and I met with the surgeon today. Pathology folks discovered that her cancer was more than 30% the highly aggressive type.

So the protocol is to be more aggressive surgically.

On March 23rd Roberta will go back into MSK to repeat the procedure only they'll remove what remains of the upper quadrant of her left lung, plus her lymph nodes.

We were aware this scenario. We had the option of two surgeries and took a roll of the dice to see if they would get it all the first time. So you can view this as: Back to Plan A.

Roberta has the best attitude and I am holding up well. Basically, I married the most popular girl in school.

More positives; We're taking the time to experience Manhattan together, something we haven't done much of since we were dating.

Our new favorite is the Saloon in the Oyster Bar Restaurant

Oyster Bar Entrance
Deep in the catacombs of Grand Central Station is the entrance to the Oyster Bar Restaurant.
The entrance to the Saloon is further inside.
